If you know me personally, then you know that I love to get my groove on from time to time. Since the tender age of eight, I've always loved the art of dance, even though I was never classically trained.
In the 8th grade, I choreographed my first routine and became hooked! From that moment on (until I graduated from college) I was enthralled in the world of dance: from hip-hop to modern to African, dance became an outlet of self-expression. It also taught me discipline, hard work, focus and team work -- giving me the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented people I've ever met.
While I don't dance as much as I would like, I never obliged to hit my two-step, dougie or "the whip" when the moment is right.
Without dance, I don't think I'd be the free-spirited, creative, meticulous and unapologetic individual that I am today. Dance has taught me to accept my vulnerability, and channel it positively to tell a story. In honor of this special occasion, check out a few of my favorite personal dance moments from the past.
Enjoy, and ALWAYS dance like no one is watching.
